Current Event on Water
Flood in Australia:
After reading about the floods in Australia, it automatically makes me think about the Nashville Flood. I think back to how terrible our flood was and find it hard to imagine how these Australians must have felt. The flood in Australia happened in a city called Toowoomba just a little outside if the state capital Brisbane. A tsunami tore through the city of Toowoomba. Cnn reported that it killed many, and even more were missing. Someone made a statement about how the water came in waves about 6 to 10 feet high. There was no warning for the mass amounts of water that took over Toowoomba. One thing we will never know is if it could have affected the outcome had everyone had a warning. The city of Toowoomba has just been through a 10-year drought. The drought had been so terrible that the city was not even aloud to wash their cars with the town's water. Not only will the recovery of the city take a very long time, the need for help became urgent. People got stuck in cars and their homes. Nowhere appeared to be safe. The city of Toowoomba will have a challenging few months, maybe even years ahead of them. The road to rebuilding their city will not be easy. The water destroyed many homes, businesses, and even lives.
